Our Q&A with Billie Piper
Acclaimed actress, Woman of The Year and all-round marvelous mum Billie Piper shares with us the highs and lows of her gifting life.
1) So Bill, what's the best gift that you've EVER received, and why?
My Dad once bought me tickets for the Kylie Minogue "Enjoy Yourself" tour. I cried for about an hour having received them. I was a very dramatic child with an unhealthy love for Kylie.
2) What's the gift that you're most proud of giving?
I bought my husband a drill and the beginnings of a great tool kit. He seemed overcome with emotion. It was possibly the look of disappointment but I was delighted with it. Smug even!
3) What's the worst gift you've ever received?
War time slippers. You know the ones that look like slipper sized Lassi dogs? I stupidly complimented my great aunt on hers and that year I received my very own pair. I suppose I should be grateful but they're just not right and they snag on your toe nails. I hate them. I'm easily offended.
4) Is there a gift you wish you never gave?
I had a one off, group Dr Who photo. It was signed by one and all. It was a brilliant photo covered in signatures. My retirement money in a frame. I loved it. Then one night, wasted, in my flat, I gave it to a neighbour. He was a big Dr Who nut. I was desperately sad to see it go.
5) What was the last gift you gave and to whom?
My sisters. We went loco in Topshop. It was a joyous afternoon.
6) Was there a gift you really begged for as a child (and did or didn't get)?
Madonna's SEX book. I was obsessed with Madge as a child. Madge & Kylie. I wanted everything they were offering. My parents want crazy. They were convinced I was some perverse young girl. I got grounded for the endless requests. I still want that book.
7) What do people tend to buy for you?
Candles and frames.
8) What can't you live without?
Candles and frames.
9) Besides world peace, what are the top three things on your all-time wish-list?
A piano, an incredible piece of art and an unlimited Topshop card!
10) What's your fail safe gift suggestion?
A magazine subscription. It's not overly expensive and it's truly the gift that keeps on giving.
xXx
